The central slogan of the Cypriot presidency of the European Union will be “A better Europe”The Finance Minister of Cyprus, Mr. Kikis Kazamias, revealed to a briefing of journalists on preparations ahead of the presidency in the second half of 2012.

Kazamias said the slogan was finalized during yesterday’s meeting at the Presidential Palace, chaired by President Demetris Christofias. He said the

“Cyprus presidency wants to make an impact”, adding “we are small; therefore we have to make a greater effort than bigger partners, to enforce the priorities we have set”

Presenting an outline of the aims of the Cypriot presidency as they were adopted during yesterday’s meeting, Kazamias said they target solidarity and effectiveness. The four subdivisions of these fundamental aims have an economic and also social significance, they are Europe and its citizens, Europe near its neighbours and development.

Cyprus Presidency of the European Union

Cyprus will be taking the presidency of the European Union in the second six months of 2012. Everyone on the island is quite excited and the goverment has implemented several new structure to facilitate Cyprus’s presidency of the European Union.
